Booktalk: "A court of mist and fury" di Sarah J. Maas

Buongiorno e buona domenica, my shining readers!

Come state?

Tra queste letture c'è stata A court of mist and fury di Sarah J. Maas!
E A court of mist and fury... DIO. SANTISSIMO.

Ladies and gentlemen, vi linko qui il mio video booktalk di A court of mist and fury!

BUONA VISIONE! <3

Review #7: "Everything and all around" by Pimm van Hest

EVERYWHERE AND ALL AROUND
Pimm van Hest
JUNE 23RD, 2016

Yolanda’s mom has died.
One moment she was breathing. And the next moment she wasn’t.
She was there, and yet she wasn’t.
Where could her mom be now?
“If you look for me, my darling, you will find me,”
her mom had told her.
So Yolanda decides to go looking.
Looking for her mom who died.
Along the way she gets help and insights from some wonderful people.

A poetic story about loss and about a little girl’s inspiring belief and touching confidence.

 * Review *

Che piccolo dolce libro, adorabile e tanto commovente!
What an adorable and touching little book!
Everywhere and all around is the story of a little girl whose mom passed away and she has to deal with grief and loss.
Her mom had told her: "If you look for me, my darling, you will find me". But little Yoland can't seem to see her anywhere, so she goes up to different relatives to ask them where they think her mom is now.
And everyone has a different reaction and a different answer to offer her, until Yolanda figures out her own way to find her mom.

It was beautiful and so touching.
This little book is clearly for children and I believe it does a perfect job at introducing them to concepts as complicated and hard to understand and accept such as death and loss.

It shows how everyone has its own way to face this tragedy; how it is important to preserve the memory of a dear one instead of pretending nothing has happened and how death, unfortunately, is part of the cycle of life and, therefore, inevitable.

Yes, it is for kids, but I'm almost a grown-up and I shed a little tear nonetheless.
The art inside was absolutely breath-taking, and I can picture myself as a kid just staring at them, trying to capture everything and see the meaning beyond it. I wish there had been more pictures, I would have loved that.
I received an eARC through NetGally but I'm pretty sure I'll be buying my own physical copy of this small diamond when it comes out!

A blinding splendid sun! The feels, I can't even!

YOU KNOW ME WELL
David Levithan & Nina LaCour
JUNE 7TH, 2016

Who knows you well? Your best friend? Your boyfriend or girlfriend? A stranger you meet on a crazy night? No one, really?

Mark and Kate have sat next to each other for an entire year, but have never spoken. For whatever reason, their paths outside of class have never crossed.
That is until Kate spots Mark miles away from home, out in the city for a wild, unexpected night. Kate is lost, having just run away from a chance to finally meet the girl she has been in love with from afar. Mark, meanwhile, is in love with his best friend Ryan, who may or may not feel the same way.
When Kate and Mark meet up, little do they know how important they will become to each other -- and how, in a very short time, they will know each other better than any of the people who are supposed to know them more.

Told in alternating points of view by Nina LaCour, the award-winning author of Hold Still and The Disenchantments, and David Levithan, the best-selling author of Every Day and co-author of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (with Rachel Cohn) and Will Grayson, Will Grayson (with John Green), You Know Me Well is a deeply honest story about navigating the joys and heartaches of first love, one truth at a time.

Voglio leggerlo perché... all'inizio del 2016 ho letto Love is the higher law di Devid Levithan e l'ho adorato, per cui voglio esplorare il resto delle opere di questo autore!
I want to read this because... at the beginning of 2016 I read Love is the higher law by David Levithan and loved it, so I want to explore this author some more!

WITH MALICE
Eileen Cook
JUNE 7TH, 2016

A read about a teenage girl who wakes up in a hospital bed and cannot remember the last six weeks of her life, including the accident that killed her best friend--only what if the accident wasn't an accident?

Eighteen-year-old Jill Charron wakes up in a hospital room, leg in a cast, stitches in her face and a big blank canvas where the last 6 weeks should be. She comes to discover she was involved in a fatal accident while on a school trip in Italy three days previous but was jetted home by her affluent father in order to receive quality care. Care that includes a lawyer. And a press team. Because maybe the accident...wasn't an accident. Wondering not just what happened but what she did, Jill tries to piece together the events of the past six weeks before she loses her thin hold on her once-perfect life.

I'd like to read it because... it's set in Italy, so I'm curious to see how that's done! And never say no to a good YA thriller ;)

THE KING SLAYER
(The witch hunter #2)
Virginia Boecker
JUNE 14TH, 2016

"I think, in time, you'll either be my greatest mistake or my greatest victory."

Former witch hunter Elizabeth Grey is hiding within the magically protected village of Harrow, evading the price put on her head by Lord Blackwell, the usurper king of Anglia. Their last encounter left Blackwell ruined, but his thirst for power grows stronger every day. He's readying for a war against those who would resist his rule--namely Elizabeth and the witches and wizards she now calls her allies.

Having lost her stigma, a magical source of protection and healing, Elizabeth's strength is tested both physically and emotionally. War always means sacrifice, and as the lines between good and evil blur once more, Elizabeth must decide just how far she'll go to save those she loves.

I want to read this because... I loved the 1st book in this series to pieces and I've been waiting for this sequel for a whole year!

IVORY AND BONE
Julie Eshbaugh
JUNE 14TH, 2016

A prehistoric fantasy—with allusions to Pride and Prejudice.

Hunting, gathering, and keeping his family safe—that’s the life seventeen-year-old Kol knows. Then bold, enigmatic Mya arrives from the south with her family, and Kol is captivated. He wants her to like and trust him, but any hopes of impressing her are ruined when he makes a careless—and nearly grave—mistake. However, there’s something more to Mya’s cool disdain…a history wrought with loss that comes to light when another clan arrives. With them is Lo, an enemy from Mya’s past who Mya swears has ulterior motives.

As Kol gets to know Lo, tensions between Mya and Lo escalate until violence erupts. Faced with shattering losses, Kol is forced to question every person he’s trusted. One thing is for sure: this was a war that Mya or Lo—Kol doesn’t know which—had been planning all along.

Ho detto tutto.
I want to read this because... "a prehistoric fantasy. With allusions to Pride and Prejudice". That says why.
